Nachbarschaft Verlasse - Neighborhood Gone, Raskolnikoff Gallery, Dresden Germany 2009

Painted photographic installation and painted fabric wall hanging.

Snapshot sized photographs of houses are whited out leaving behind only a sparse landscape. The snapshots are placed to create a false unified horizon line based on the foundation point of the erased house. Photographs are fixed to the walls with photograph corners, the sort you would find in an old photo album. The notion of the stability and the family home as well as the manifestation of the American dream is called into question in this work. What stays and what fades?
