Still Bodies, Hammond Harkins Gallery, Columbus, Ohio 2021 - 2023

This series of arched low-relief, polychromatic works holds figures caught in action. Once active, the figures are now inlaid, still, and immovable, intertwined and cut through with repeating leaf shapes. The leaf forms, first observed and then rendered across time, are sourced from women’s still life paintings spanning from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance to the work of Modernists. Through this layering across time, I am searching for a connector, a thought line from them to me, and from me onward.
